Project Life 2014: Week 15

This week was a bit overwhelming to scrap, just because I had SO many photos. We took a weekend trip and I had a hard time deciding what to include here, and how to balance it out with the rest of the week. In the end I only added a couple photos from the weekend, and I hope to create pocket pages for the rest of the trip that I can either put in as inserts in my Project Life book, or put in my separate 2014 album. I haven't decided which way to do it yet. For this week's spread I used the new "Because I'm Happy" collection that released last week at Digital Design Essentials. (And I apologize if the song is now stuck in your head!)

April Layouts

This month has been a busy on and I haven't been able to scrap as much as I'd like, but I do have some pages to share today.

First off, is a tribute to 80s music. I think the 80s threw up on this page...

I did this page for the template challenge at My Scrapbook Art. Go snag your FREE template and play along!

I created this one last month, but couldn't post it until now because it was part of the Digi Morph game over at Pixels and Company - sort of like telephone tag for scrapbooking.  Layouts aren't revealed until everyone is done.

I took some photos of my cute girl when she got a new haircut that just had to be scrapped:

This was made using the templates Katie the Scrapbook Lady provided for this month's Digi Night Out. I was SO SAD I had to miss it! It's the first time I haven't been at Digi Night Out. I also used a kit from Michelle Coleman from Digi Night Out last fall.

And lastly, this was created with the April BYOC products by Just Jaimee.  I was inspired by this awesome page.

Project Life 2014: Week 14

Over the years, I've been very lucky to be on some pretty amazing creative teams. It seems like I've always had at least one or two teams at any given time. The last year or two has brought opportunities to create for a store (Pixels & Company) and an inspiration site (My Scrapbook Art), plus I recently joined the awesomeness that is Just Jaimee. I've been so happy with these gigs, I didn't think I'd ever create for another individual designer again. These three keep me plenty busy, and I love it!

A few weeks ago that changed. I saw that Digital Design Essentials was having a creative team call... and I could not resist! This is seriously a dream team for me. I've been a big fan of Gina Cabrera (DDE owner) almost since I began digital scrapbooking way back in 2005. (Crazy that it's been almost 10 years!) Back then I purchased CD's full of her kits, and many of  my 2005 and 2006 layouts were created using her products. I've remained a big fan over the years and it's been inspiring to watch Gina's designs grow and change with the industry. She has remained one of my very favorites all these years! So, needless to say, I was excited to see the call and applied the very first day. It was thrilling to get the email a couple of weeks later accepting me as part of the team!

I will be creating both pocket-style pages and more traditional 12x12 layouts.  This means that many of my Project Life spreads will feature DDE products, and I'm starting with week 14. For this spread, I used items from the Happy Place collection.

Wrapping Up March

April is here!  It's crazy to think we're 1/4 of the way through 2014... I'm still dating things 2013 half the time. I just wanted to share a few more pages I scrapped this month.

This is a pocket page I made using the April Storyteller Collection by Just Jaimee. Also, it was featured in her Storytelling magazine, which you can view for FREE. So much inspiration!

I dug into the archives for this one - some spring pictures of my son in 2010.

This layout was inspired by a paper layout by Shanna Noel (view it here) for the scraplift challenge at The Lilypad. It's showing up darker here for some odd reason... that background paper is actually more white than gray.  A better version can be viewed in The Lilypad gallery.

That's it for now. Happy April!

Project Life 2014: Week 13

When I saw all the beautiful products in the April Company Stash at Pixels & Company, I knew I wanted to use them for a Project Life spread. I love the soft, springy feel of this stash - but my photos don't generally have that soft feel to them. Enter RadLab! I use RadLab on nearly every photo I scrapbook, and for this spread I applied a faded photo effect to the pictures to give them the soft, springy feel that would match the products.  I really love the results.

Other things I'm loving about this project:

-I'm staying on top of it!! I usually have my spread completed a day or two after the week finishes up.
-Not feeling too pressured to document everything. Some weeks I have a lot more photos than this, and not everything makes it onto the spread.  But I'm okay with that - in the end it's more about documenting little snippets of life, not documenting EVERY snippet.
-I really like mixing black and white with color photos.
-layering the current week over a photo in the top left corner
-using the same page design each week - really keeps things simple for me
-one card devoted to journaling (usually the top row, second pocket over)

Thanks for taking a look!

p.s. for some reason, blogger is making this spread look a lot darker than it really is. You can view it in my flickr gallery for a more accurate representation.

Project Life 2014: Week 12

Spring! St. Patrick's Day! Family! Those seem to be the major themes for this week. I was a bit stumped on what product to use - and when that happens, I turn to Just Jaimee.  Her Storyteller collections are ginormous and I can always find plenty of stuff to use that already matches. For this week's spread I used the March Storyteller collection. I especially love the "currently" card, which helped me record some fun details I might not have otherwise added.

More March Layouts

It's been a couple of weeks since I posted any layouts. Here's what I've been creating.

Last month, my husband bought our oldest a rocket for his birthday. The first time we went out it didn't work because the battery we put in it was dead :( We went out a few days later and that thing was GONE. Come to find out my husband bought the most powerful engine for it!  We ended up buying a new rocket (the launch pad was just fine) and some smaller engines and we love to go to the big field at the park to shoot it off. It's been a really fun thing for Dad and his boys to do together. We usually have a few neighborhood kids tagging along too :)

I wanted to record that fact that I've been cooking more consistently (pat on the back) and trying new recipes. This kit was perfect for it - I still hate cleaning up my mess though.

Spring is here! This is what spring often looks like around here. This photo was taken just last week, and thankfully the snow is long gone.

This was also a recent series of photos - I loved the little story I captured here and was excited to get it scrapbooked.  Silly boy.

You  might have noticed I love "roundup" pages - a mix of photos with the same theme (in this case my baby boy) over an extended period of time. These were photos I instagrammed of my youngest during 2013. I fell in love with this template and this was a great way to use it.
